Kathleen Pritchett-Corning
Kathleen Pritchett-Corning is Attending Veterinarian and Director of the Office of Animal Resources (OAR). In this position, she provides oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of the FAS Office of Animal Resources animal facilities, and manages supervisory staff who are responsible for animal care technician hiring, training, and the resolution of disciplinary issues. She also assists in the development and delivery of animal research facility programs and projects operated in compliance with federal and state regulations and AAALAC accreditation standards.
Dr. Pritchett-Corning has more than 30 years of experience in laboratory animal science and medicine, with a focus on animal-based husbandry research. She has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, including chapters in the 3rd edition of Laboratory Animal Medicine, and 5 volumes of the Charles River Handbook series. She received the AALAS Pravin Bhatt Scientific Excellence Award in 2015. She is the Chair of the Laboratory Animal Working Group of the AVMA Panel on Euthanasia and the AVMA Panel on Depopulation, as well as a member of the FELASA Working Group on Health Monitoring, and the joint AALAS/FELASA Working Group on Health Monitoring of Rodents for Animal Transfer. She has held positions at the University of Washington, the Jackson Laboratory, and Charles River.
Dr. Pritchett-Corning received her BS and her DVM from Washington State University, and completed her post-doctoral training in laboratory animal medicine at the University of Washington. In addition to her position with OAR, she is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Comparative Medicine at the University of Washington.
